HBR IP Micro Mobility Architecture Modelling

چکیده
Host based routing (HBR) protocols such as Cellular IP (CIP) facilitate IP mobility management in micro mobility access network domains where frequents handovers (or handoffs) are common. An HBR protocol based on CIP is modeled. Three main processes: the cross-over node (CoN), the base station (BS), and the mobile node (MN) process models were constructed. The CoN model is used to simulate CIP nodes in the wired part of the access network as well as the gateway. The wireless links between the BS and MN were simplified using wired links scheduled as “On” or “Off” to emulate MN handovers. The BS process model was also modified to simulate a multi-homed BS (MHOBS) node in order to reduce handover overhead due to increasing depth of the topology during path updates. Local statistics from simulations are discussed showing the reduction in packet loss.

Performance of IP Micro-Mobility Management Schemes using Host Based Routing
Global IP mobility solutions using protocols like Mobile IP (MIP) and SIP are not optimized to handle micro-mobility management, where low-latency handoffs are essential, to avoid inefficiencies and performance degradation. Host based routing (HBR) schemes, such as HAWAII, Cellular IP and MMP are one of two main classes of schemes for IP micromobility management, the other being hierarchical Mo...
متن کاملModelling the Reliability of Ring Topology IP Micro Mobility Networks
The telecommunications, computer sciences and media of today seem to converge to an all IP network. Not only IP backbone will be used but also IP access networks. At the same time there is an increasing need for mobility. MobileIP cannot provide fast handovers in an always-on scenario. Therefore IP micro mobility solutions are needed. IP micro mobility networks have several special requirements...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Handover Schemes in IP Micro-Mobility Systems
With the aim of improving the performance of Mobile IP, several proposals based on the concept of micro-mobility have been proposed. In this an analytical model for the performance evaluation of a number of handover micro-mobility schemes is developed.
متن کاملA MPLS Framework for Macro- and Micro-Mobility Management
Mobile IP (MIP) provides a global framework for IP mobility management; however, it is not suitable for micro-mobility environments. Many domain-based micromobility management schemes have been proposed to overcome the limit of MIP. All these scheme delegate to MIP for inter-domain mobility. Recently there is a trend to use Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) to deal with mobility manageme...

In this paper we suggest a classification scheme for IP mobility protocols and propose a framework for comparing them. We then use the framework to provide an initial comparison of recent proposals for supporting micro-mobility.
